WhatsApp messenger does not store message history, audio files and images on its servers. They remain only on the phones of users. On the one hand, this guarantees the privacy of personal information, on the other hand, it creates certain difficulties when cleaning a smartphone or accidentally deleting a story.
However, such situations sometimes happen to users who later wonder how to recover deleted messages in WhatsApp. For iPhone owners, this feature is provided by the iCloud service. It is designed to copy data from a mobile device to the cloud. All messages from WhatsApp are downloaded there.
Enabling WhatsApp Data Backup on iPhone
- Go to Settings -> Apple ID -> iCloud;
- Now you need to check the cloud synchronization with WhatsApp. If it is ON, then everything is good.
Otherwise, unfortunately, it is impossible to return deleted messages, since they are not stored on the messenger servers, but only in the local version.
How to Restore WhatsApp Data with iCloud on iPhone?
- Open the Settings in the messenger itself, the “Chats and calls” section, tap on “Copy” there. The screen displays information about the safety of your data on the iCloud servers.
- Press the Home button, find the WhatsApp icon on the screen and make a long tap on it. Select deletion and confirm. However, your data will not be erased. Now the app needs to be reinstalled from the App Store. Log in using your old cell number. The system will offer to restore the data from the copy, just agree with Restore button.
Sometimes messenger data recovery is not possible. In this case, there are a number of actions that will help solve the problem. But this will be a separate article in the near future.
